APPLICATIONS OPEN NOVEMBER 1, 2023.

The Irving M. Klein International String Competition is open to violinists, violists, cellists and bassists between the ages of 15-23 at the time of the competition on June 1, 2024.  All prizes are intended for instrumental studies; therefore persons under professional management are not eligible.  Judges will have the final decision on all prize awards, and details of concert appearances are subject to change.  

For 38 years, we’ve been dedicated to our mission to seek and nurture exceptional young string musicians from around the world.

We support these exceptional players early in their careers, fostering and furthering the development of professional and performance skills, providing them with performance contracts and monetary support and encouraging their community involvement.

The Klein has enjoyed international acclaim as one of the most prestigious classical music competitions in the world.  It’s recognized for the high caliber of the contestants, its unique, supportive environment, and a commitment to the commissioning of new works.
